This charming house is situated two hours drive from Calais and one and a half hours drive from Paris, Disneyland and Parc Asterix. Set on the edge of the village of Charmes in a good sized secluded garden with swings, garden furniture, a cherry tree and brick built barbecue. Local shops and bar are ten minutes walk, larger shops, restaurants and other amenities are within five to ten minute's drive.
The Forest of St Gobain is five minutes drive, and the medieval cities of Laon and Soissons are within half an hours drive. There is a bathing lake five minutes from the house. Visits to Reims, the Champagne vineyards, and the Chateau of Pierrefonds (the setting for Camelot in the BBC1 series "Merlin") all make interesting days out. Also close by are many WW1 and WW2 sites including the Somme battlefields, and Compiegne where the Armistice was signed in 1918. The pretty countryside of the Thierache is in the north-east corner of the Departement where many of the churches are fortified. There is plenty of fishing in the many rivers, canals and lakes in the area.
